Friday- February 23, 2007: Kaylee's first taste of rice cereal

For the past several nights my dear daughter has been waking up at 2:00 am, 4:00 am and 6:30 am. I have been feeling rather sleep deprived (not to mention grumpy). It is like having a newborn again!

So, I decided maybe it is time to start solid food. A full tummy should equal a good night's sleep.

While she looks happy in the pictures, she wasn't really into the cereal. She probably ate about 2 spoonfuls.

Then she spit it all out about 15 minutes later...

Isaac, ofcourse, wants to have whatever Kaylee has. So when he asked for a taste I let him have one.

He didn't like it...

He does, however, like wearing Kaylee's hairbow while he fixes the steps with the drill. (Sorry honey, I know you wanted this picture deleted)

Sometimes I get frustrated with the town we live in, as there really is not a lot to do here. But one nice feature we do have is a little ice rink that is about 2 miles from our house in the downtown park. They flood a decent sized area of the park and create a skating rink for most of the winter (as long as it stays cold enough). It is usually packed with kids.

We bought skates for Isaac a few weeks ago, and we finally got a chance for him to try them out on the ice today. (He has been practicing on the carpet at home)

So the ice proved to be a little more difficult than the carpet, but he still had fun. We held onto him most of the time, but he did manage to take a few strides (is that the correct term?) on his own.

P.S. Kaylee slept in her carseat at the edge of the rink (sorry Kaylee, maybe next year!)

Happy Birthday Matt!

Today is a big day- the first day of Matt's last year as a twenty something.
We celebrated by having a mini thanksgiving (Matt's favorite meal of the year)

and carrot cake for dessert (my favorite)

I love you honey!

Getting Dumped On Valentine's Day

What a great headline...
They are talking about the weather of course. It's a blizzard!! I love it! In my opinion if it is going to be 2 degrees out, we might as well have the snow to go with it! (Easy for me to say when I don't have to drive to work...)

See this link
I think I'll stay inside and have a snack while daddy clears the driveway...

"It's just like every other day for me!"

Havin' Fun with the Glue Gun

I have been feeling pretty crafty as of late. I have been making decorations for a friend's baby shower. And while I had all the supplies out, I felt inspired to make a hair bow for Kaylee. I have made her one other one since then, and bought 50 plain clips, so I can make a few (hee hee) more.

Don't be fooled by the look on her face, she told me she LOVES the bows mommy is putting in her hair

(It's a "cake" made out of diapers... and a smaller "cupcake" version for table decorations)

I was worried that people wouldn't be able to tell that it was supposed to look like a cake, but when Isaac saw it he said Happy Birthday Gabriel (the most recent b-day party we've been to)

The Next Clinton Kelly

Sometimes when Isaac and I are eating lunch I turn on TLC's What Not to Wear. Not quite sure why as it just reinforces my lack of fashion sense, but it gives me something to watch. I never really thought Isaac was paying too much attention, but maybe he is...

The other day Kaylee's jeans got wet (gotta change those cloth diapers more often) and while I was drying them I changed her into a pair of pink cotton pants. When Isaac saw her he said, "no match mommy , pink, no orange. " Thank you...

I have made a great discovery- bathtime!
Every evening starting at about 7:00pm Kaylee decides to get super fussy. The only thing she wants is to be held- or, as I have recently discovered, take a bath. So now almost every night I put both the munchkins in the bath for about half an hour (or until Kaylee screams because she's too cold) while I read a magazine, fold laundry or clean (all in the bathroom to keep an eye on them ofcourse!)

I know at some point it will inappropiate for a brother and sister to bathe together, but for now it is a lifesaver!

Roll Over!

Yeah- Kaylee learned how to roll over (from her stomach to her back). The first roll took place on Thursday January 31, 2007 at approximately 5:30 p.m. I made a pretty big deal about it, and Isaac was a little jealous so he laid on the floor and demonstrated that he knew how to roll over too.

I now feel pretty confident about Kaylee's abililty to lift her head (and roll over) so I have started putting her to sleep on her tummy. I hoping this will allow her hair to grow back on the back of her head. She has a pretty nice bald spot going on.
