Oh to be two!

This is the way Isaac spent his Friday morning:

Several hours (seriously!) playing with a bag of 99 cent plastic animals which we purchased at Goodwill.
He enjoys carrying them around in Kaylee's pink princess lunchbox.

*1st note: Isaac is holding one of them up to his eye because he is prentending it is a camera...
*2nd note: Isaac loves going to Goodwill. I use it as bribery if we are doing other errands in the area. (if you are good at Target, mommy will take you to Goodwill...)

Another good amount of time playing on the couches. Sadly this had to be cut short because of the dangers it was posing to Kaylee.

1st note: Both children were wet with sweat when I finally decided to end this rumpus
2nd note: we don't play this game often, it is more like once a year -on the day that I actually take off the cushions to vacuum the couches- this time I found a Christmas ornament...

This doesn't seem right

I took these pictures on Tuesday when I was planting some mums. It was HOT!! It just didn't seem right to me to have Isaac playing in the water while I was putting out our fall flowers..




Maybe this warm fall makes up for the snow storm we had in April...

Our last 3 weekends in review

September 8- Isaac's friend Alexa celebrated her second birthday; her parents know how to throw a great party!

Isaac sort of liked this inflatable slide, and by that I mean he pretty much only got off to eat some lunch and then of couse when it was time for cake

September 16 (Sunday afternoon)

We really wanted to go to the Great State of Maine Air Show, well, actually we wanted to show up for an hour or 2 around the time when the Blue Angels were scheduld to fly, but we quickly learned that was not going to happen. I think our first clue was when traffic was already backing up at 9:00 am when we were on our way to church. So by 2:00pm when we finally headed out, the road to the Naval Air Station was closed and traffic was CRAZY (making us miss the good old days of Northern VA). Anyway, we decided instead of sitting in a traffic jam and missing the Blue Angels, we would park along the road next to an open field where we would still be able to see them fly. It turned out to be the perfect solution as neither one of our kids were the least bit interested in watching the airplanes. Isaac was however quite excited about running up to random kids and asking them to chase him.

If you look closely at this picture you can see we were not the only ones with the idea to park here. There were easily more than 100 other cars lining this country road.

September 22, "Uncle" Noah comes to visit. I think Noah really wanted to spend the day fishing with Matt, but he was a good sport and went along with our idea of taking the kids apple picking.

Isaac in the corn maze. I think he thought the idea was to find the corn because when he found this ear he started shouting "here it is, here it is!"

After all the fun of feeding the animals, playing on the tractors and climbing on the bales of straw we decided it was time to actually pick some apples...



We picked 3 bags of Honey Crisp- my favorite!

Want to take a guess as to why Kaylee is so happy?

It is because mommy is listening to (and singing along with ) a Jimmy Buffett song and she thinks that is a lot of fun!

A "conversation" Isaac and I had the other day

Me: Isaac, please stop climbing on Kaylee's chair

Isaac: Huh?

Me: You heard me, stop climbing

Isaac: Huh?

Me: I said, you heard me, with your ears, you heard me, now stop please

Isaac: I'm sorry I hurt you

Me: What do you mean?

Isaac: I'm sorry I hurt your ears

Me: Never mind...

Kid Stuff

Nothing major to post... just a few random kid facts

Isaac

* Isaac made his first official craft yesterday at the library storytime. We no longer go to the baby class; we have moved up to "time for 2s". When we first got there we were sitting in the back of the group, but as soon as the librariam started to read the story Isaac walked up to the front and practically sat on her feet. I'm afraid he will be the annoying kid in the class who wants to answer ALL the questions and who always has something to say! The "craft" is a butterfly. Isaac named him buttery and said "Daddy will be so proud of me for this!" (We were)

* He is learning how to count, not just saying the numbers in order, but actually pointing at the objects and counting them. I have seen him accurately count up to five this way. He still does not correctly identify all the numbers. He seems to know 1,2,3, and 10

*He loves to eat yogurt for breakfast

*The potty has gone back in the closet for now...

Kaylee

*She is 11 months old today!

*She has been taking steps since she was 10 months old, but is still not walking by herself

*I think I will document her first two words. She seems to say them consistently enough to count:

dada

du (when she sees Dutch)

*She is starting to give up her morning nap, which is a little annoying (I'm trying to figure out how to take a shower now!) but onthe plus side she is taking longer afternoon naps

*When I tell her no (not even raising my voice) she looks at me and starts to bawl

*She is still nursing, but seems to be much less interested in it, except at 4:30 am
