A great summer weekend

Wow- last weekend was great. Lots of fun, and we actually got a little work done aound the house too!


On Friday night we went the Yarmouth Clam Festival. We watched the parade and took Isaac on his first carnival rides. His little head just hit the 36" mark so he was good to go (not that the people running the rides looked like they really cared how tall he was, but it made me feel better that he at least met the requirement)

No, we didn't eat any clams, but we did enjoy plenty of other fried food (haddock, chicken fingers, onion rings- no french fries this year) . And for dessert blueberry cheesecake and a lime rickey (non-alcholic)

Around and around. (He is soooo ecxcited because Matt told him he was riding in Lightning McQueen)

Notice he is not strapped in, I didn't get too nervous until he saw me and said, "mommy, I want to get off!" (Thank goodness he didn't)

On Saturday we visited Pineland Farms, a place that had been on our long list of things to do while in Maine. We had a fun morning with our friends Lael and Suzanne and their kids Anna, Jackson and Gerret.

Dinner Time Madness

For months Matt and I have talking about about buying/ building some type of swingset or playset for Isaac. Now, we talked about just going to Home Depot or Lowe's and buying a do-it yourself kit. That would have made a nice, simple weekend project...


But, what fun would that be? Instead we have spent the last 6 weeks researching, designing and building our own playset. (It actually has been a lot of fun- I even leraned how to use a router)


It has evolved along the way and has turned out to be slightly more elaborate than originally planned. (wouldn't it be cool if we added this...) It is not completely finished yet, but we are getting there.

This is pretty much how it looks right now with the two slides (our neighbor really thought the kids needed another one so they bought it), a rockwall, a ramp, and a swinging bridge (lots of headaches and the rails are still not done on this part)

**Since I took this picture the rope ladder (thanks Bepa) has been attached, and we did get one railing up on the bridge** I will try to get a few more pictures as there is still more work to be done (the monkey bars and the swings...)

Every mom thinks their child is a genius, and I am no exception, but Isaac really did do something pretty impressive (in my opinion) this morning. I looked over on the fridge, and out of the entire alphabet these were the letters he picked out all by himself.

Any guesses as to the importance of the ones he chose?

Our Finger Lakes Vacation

Day 1- We're Here!

June 16- We arrived at Evergreen late in the afternoon. We unpacked the cars, went to "town" to pick up pizza, ate out on the screened in porch, put the kidos to bed and relaxed...

Day 2- Let's Hit the Beach

June 17

Compared to the beaches in Michigan (miles of sand) the "beach" part was a little dissapointing. It was tiny and rocky. However, the swim platform proved to be a big hit! Also, the 90 degree weather made this a prefect day for swimming.

Day 3

June 18

Nathan and Isaac discover some sand! It was just the horseshoe pit, but it was enough for them. We pretty much spent all morning hanging out up there watching them play.

Later that evening the three of us (and Mema and Bepa) went for a quick paddle. The lake was like glass.

Day 4

June 19

In the morning the boys went golfing. They actually went to this golf course 3 times during the vacation. Since it only cost $10 (with a cart) I guess I couldn't complain.

Matt said it was a great course for kids, assuming your kid likes golf that is... Let's just say I don't think we are raising the next Tiger Woods.

Day 5

June 20

On Wednesday we visited Watkins Glen State Park. The scenery was amazingly beautiful, however, most of the time I was too busy chasing Isaac to completely enjoy it. All in all, a geat day trip- I highly reccommend (the next time you are in the area)
