Strawerries!

We picked strawberries last week. Sadly, I was unable to get a picture during the actual picking...somethings about wrangling the three kids while actually trying to pick some berries

I did get a picture of some of the damage...yeah that shirt might be ruined

Abbie ate sooooo many strawberries at the patch that she was not allowed to have any more for lunch!

Kaylee helped me slice some up for everyone to snack on

making jam!

just one batch this year, I want to try to branch out and make some other jams this summer ...we have been eating only strawberry jam since last June!

later the kids wanted to make strawberry juice...that would be water plus a few mushed up strawberries..mmm

mmmm. that was good shortcake

All in all, lots of fun and lots of yum...I still want to try to make some homemade fruit leather...we will see how that turns out...

June 14...in review

Today started out with some highs and lows...

planting flowers was fun, and made the deck look much better

on a sad note, the turtle escaped from his new pen (the kids decided he had to be moved because he, um, soiled the pool that they had been keeping him in)

later this afternoon Isaac and crew decided to make a lemonade stand

not to be outdone Kaylee and her friend decided to sell granola bars and water

anyone want to buy a granola bar for $1? I think Isaac was their only customer (maybe he didn't notice the 20 other granola bars sitting in the pantry that he could have had for free!)

it sort of turned into the moms standing around chatting and the kids drinking all the lemonade...

And then tonight, Isaac's T-ball game. Can you tell how much Isaac loves t-all

nice hit!

Kaylee loves watching (almost as much as Isaac loves playing!)

the cutest fan!

Summer Vacation, Day 1

So, no more school...what are we going to do today?

I saw this idea on a website to make "stick people" out of...well sticks. It seemed like a fun thing to try, so we did!

hunting for just the right stick..Isaac also found a few ninga swords and Kaylee found all sorts of things for her other craft projects!

we had to stop to climb a tree (and go to the playground) before heading home

After lunch Kaylee found a turtle in the road, so that caused a distraction for a good hour or so as the kids built it a habitat in, what else, the turtle sandbox

Finally, onto painting the sticks.. after they dried we (I) screwed in screws for the arms and legs, the kids drew faces and voila...stick people!

doesn't he look soooo proud!

A new year's resolution

I just read this blog** which had some cool ideas about reasons for and how to become an early riser. I have always wanted to be a "morning person", maybe this will be the year! Now that I wrote it, maybe I will more likely to do it! Although, I think since it is already 10:30 and I am watching the survivor finale that I never saw, I will have to start tomorrow!

**I think this blog has some interesting ideas, but I realize it is not written from a Christian perspective and I certaintly do not agree with all the ideas (like waking up at 4:30 ha ha)
