Cartoon Day

When I was growing up my neighbor used to call Saturday "cartoon day." I don't think he even knew the day had another name. I'm afraid Isaac may be headed down the same track. Matt introduced Isaac to the Disney channel on Sat. morning. I must say things were pretty peaceful around here. Although I'm sure this also had something to do with the fact that we let him keep
Josh (his stuffed shark- he pronounces it so it sounds like Josh) and his pacifier- his two greatest loves.

For the rest of the day Isaac would go to the TV and ask for Mickey. Watch out Elmo- it looks like you have some competition!!

Michigan

I have lots of great (at least in my opinion) pictures that I took last week when Isaac and I were back in Michigan. Here's a sampling:

The first set is of Isaac and his cousin Nathan (who he calls "baby"). I also added one of the real baby- little Katie. Isaac didn't really show much interest in her, but I think she's pretty darn cute!

What a bargain

I always love a good deal- and what could be a better deal than FREE? So when someone in Portland was giving away a little tykes turtle sandbox I snatched it up. Matt picked it up from their house after work today.

For some reason after we put the sand in, he would not get back in it- very unlike him, but I think he'll have fun once he figures out what to do. We'll see how long it takes him to empty 100 lbs of sand onto the driveway...

I am usually the bargain hunter of the family, but last week Matt found a few bargains of his own. Before work one morning he stopped in at the LLBean Employee store and found this beautiful adirondack chair. I have been looking at these chairs all summer, but the retail price is $159.00, which I think is completely ridiculous. So, when Matt told me he got this chair for $5.00 I was beyond excited! The problem with the chair was that it was missing an arm, but the guy at the store gave him one that they had sitting in the back. All he had to do was drill holes it in and attach it.

While we were really excited about the chair, we started thinking- what good is one chair? So on Friday we went back to the store and found two more. We paid $13 total- but they are going to need a little more work. They need to be sanded, re-painted, assembled. We figure It'll be something for us to work on during the long Maine winter! So hopefully next summer we will be sitting in our new chairs watching Isaac build sand castles in his turtle sandbox!

And in case the chairs don't keep us busy, we also bought this corner hutch. ($5.00)

There is supposed to be a picture of the hutch here- but I have tried like 50 times and even though it says it has been uploaded, it obviously has not!! ARRR!!

Anyway, until we get all this done, no more trips to the employee store!

It is officially HOT! (even for me)

It doesn't happen often in Maine, but today the temps were in the mid 90's and with the humidity index it felt like it was over 100.

Here's how we survived the heat:

We spent most of the day at More To Life Campground. Lots of people from our church go there. They have a little beach which is great for small kids. Unfortunately I found it hard to watch Isaac to make sure he didn't drown and take pictures...

Later this afternoon after he woke up from his short nap (it was 85 degrees in his room, poor kid couldn't sleep) I took him outside and gave him a container of ice to play with. It's his new favorite toy. For some reason he really prefers to play with the ice and the dog together. After a while Dutch got too hot and went to lay in the garage, and Isaac wasn't too happy to be left alone.
